Nayana Sooryan, who had assisted late filmmaker Lenin Rajendran for nine long years and directed a film in the anthology Crossroad, died on Sunday. She was found dead in her house at Althara near Vellayambalam during the early hours of Sunday. She originally hails from Karunagappally in Kollam district.
After her mentor passed away just 40 days ago, Nayana was known to have been upset. When her parents couldn’t reach her on her Birthday, they panicked and had her friends track her down. One of her friends, Merin Mathew went to her apartment to check on her but found her dead in the apartment. Though she was rushed to a hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The postmortem report has not yet come but it is believed that Nayana had been low on sugar. Sub Inspector G Sunil has said that she had been suffering from low blood pressure related problems and had been in the intensive care unit in the recent past. Nayana leaves behind her parents and two siblings.
