Shraddha Kapoor, who had been roped in to play Saina Nehwal in the ace badminton star’s biopic in Bollywood, has reportedly opted out over scheduling conflicts, after undergoing a grueling training in badminton for months. T-Series owner Bhushan Kumar has confirmed that Parineeti Chopra will be replacing Shraddha Kapoor in Amole Gupte’s film.
Bhushan said, “We want to wrap up Saina by this year-end for an early 2020 release, so going ahead with the project is a decision taken by mutual consent. We are glad Parineeti has come on board for the film. Saina has made every Indian proud and we can’t wait to take her story to the world in the year of the Olympics.”
Shraddha had begun filming on the Amole Gupte directorial in September last year. However, its shooting was halted soon after she was diagnosed with dengue. The shoot was supposed to resume in April 2019. However Shraddha is unable to give the project enough time because of her other projects. Shraddha is busy with Chhichhore and has also been traveling to London for Street Dancer 3D. She also has Baaghi 3 in the offing and she has started promotions for her Telugu debut Saaho, along with Prabhas, which will be hitting screens in August.
Meanwhile, Parineeti is gearing up for the release of Kesari, based on the Battle of Saragarhi fought between the British Indian army’s Sikh Regiment and Afghan tribesmen in September 1897. The film will see Akshay Kumar in the lead role.
