The second trailer for Charlie’s Angels offers a closer look at the new team of Angels played by Ella Balinska, Naomi Scott, and Kristen Stewart. Although it seems like a hard reboot on the surface, the upcoming film is actually a partial continuation of director McG’s Charlie’s Angels movies from the 2000s (which themselves, of course, were based on the original 1970s TV show). This time out, the agency is run by at least a trio of people named Bosley — played by screenwriter-director Elizabeth Banks, Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou, in the role originally portrayed by David Doyle in the Aaron Spelling series and Billy Murray in the previous 2003 and 2000 reboots. (No word yet on who, if anyone, will be Charlie, who was originally voiced by John Forsythe.) Charlie’s Angels stars Kristen Stewart and Ella Balinska as Sabrina Wilson and Jane Kano, respectively, secret agents for the Townsend Agency, an international organization that does the dirty but helpful work others simply can’t. They’re joined by MIT-trained scientist Elena Houghlin, played by Naomi Scott, who becomes the Angels’ latest recruit as she harbors knowledge about a dangerous weapon that could threaten the world. The film is clearly embracing a “bigger is better” approach and that extends to everything from the scale to the Angels’ gadgets (not to mention, wardrobe), and even the sheer number of Angels and “Boselys”. Charlie’s Angels comes out November 15.
